Working informal caregivers wanted for study

Rachel Harris

Tēnā koe,

My name is Rachel Harris and I am currently undertaking a Master of Science in Psychology at Massey University. My supervisor is Professor Christine Stephens. My research is about the experience of people in paid employment who also provide unpaid care for older adults, and their support systems (before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown in New Zealand).

There may be a range of people who are working carers and I am looking for those in full or part-time paid employment who provide informal care for:

  • a member of family or friend who lives in same household
  • a member of family or friend living or aging in place in the community

If their work situation has changed due to COVID-19 pandemic disruption or lockdown, they would still be legible for my study.

As there are many people who are in this situation, I am sure there are those who would be interested and perhaps also find it beneficial to talk about their experiences.

I would like to know if it is possible to place a notice in your organisation’s new letters, bulletin or mailing list regarding recruitment for research participants.

Interviews would be conducted over the telephone or internet via Zoom or Skype. The participants will be fully informed regarding study details, privacy, and information use as according to research protocols and the privacy act. Should they decide they no longer wish to be a part of the research, they can withdraw at any time. These procedures will be subject to ethics committee approval.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you and your organisation soon.

Ngā mihi nui

Rachel Harris
