Cancellation of covid restrictions

From the Grey Power Federation
With the removal of the Covid Traffic Light System at 11.59 am Tuesday 12 September it is expedient to be reminded of what some requirements are.

  • · Masks still must be worn in Health Care areas such as pharmacies, medical centres, hospitals, and Age Care facilities
  • · The 7-day isolation period is required if you personally contact Covid but family members are not required to isolate but are recommended to take a RAT test.
  • · Anti-viral medicines will be available free to anyone over 65 who tests positive for Covid-19. For Maori and Pacific people these medicines will be available for anyone 50 and over. In addition anyone with three high-risk conditions is eligible for free anti-viral medicines.

If you wish to wear a mask it is your right to do so and it is still recommended that they are worn on public transport and at events with large gatherings.

For your information the Ministry of Health has provided the following information:

Protecting vulnerable people and communities

Availability of free anti-viral medicines to everyone aged 65+ and Māori and Pacific peoples 50+ who need them, free boosters, free medical grade masks, and ongoing isolation requirements for positive cases will help protect at-risk people and communities from the virus.

Any further alterations will be updated as necessary.

From the Editor: Anti-virals are not the cure-all; there are many medications that react with the anti-virals. Check the Ministry of Health guidelines.
